Using Social Media To Attract Positive Media Coverage Without Spending Money Or Sending Out A News Release

Why are THEY on the news? Why aren’t reporters covering what WE are doing? This session will shed some light into how the news media operates, how stories are chosen and how you can create content to attract positive media coverage without spending any money or sending out a news release. Learn how you can make your social media sites a place where reporters regularly check for story ideas.

You will leave this session with a better understanding of the challenges the news media is facing and how you can create content to build relationships with the media so your government agency’s story is told in the best light possible, including how to:
  • Understand the pressures the news media is facing and how this affects your agency
  • Create content to promote your agency and make it more human and transparent to your key stakeholders (the taxpayers)
  • Engage reporters creatively without sending out news releases
